This article is about how a vision board can make you travel the world and 5 mistakes people make when creating their vision board.

Normally, traveling does take a lot of planning, time and financial investment. Having high ambitions and a passion for traveling can make it difficult to fulfill the dream of “traveling the world”. On top of that, you have all the normal responsibilities and commitments such as a job, a partner and paying the bills.

But it doesn’t have to be this way. With a vision board, you can travel the world easily and effortlessly.

A dream board or vision board is a collage of images, pictures, and affirmations of one’s dreams and desires, designed to serve as a source of inspiration and motivation, and to use the law of attraction to attain goals.

How my client traveled to 20 countries in one year

About a year ago I gave a vision board workshop at sanara in Tulum, Mexico. In there was a woman who had no prior experience or knowledge of manifestation and the law of attraction. I guided her and the other participants through the process of creating a vision board. A year later I received a request from the woman asking for a private session on creating another one with her because the first one was so successful. She sent me a message explaining that she traveled 20 countries in a year because her vision board had travelling on it. Isn’t that crazy?

How vision boards work

The way a vision board works is that it communicates your goals with your subconscious mind. By hanging the board somewhere where you always see it, you constantly remind your subconscious mind of what you want. This makes it so that your subconscious mind automatically sets this as the ideal goal without you having to do anything for it. Then, with the powerful law of attraction operating, you will be automatically attracted to people, places, and circumstances that make your vision possible. This requires no effort on your side.

But creating a vision board is not so easy. Actually, many people do a lot of mistakes so that their vision board never really “works”.

5 Mistakes people make when creating a vision board

1. Not preparing correctly

Creating a vision board is not just about searching for random inspiring pictures online. 80% of your vision board’s success is determined by your preparation. To prepare correctly you need to first, set a time frame for your vision board (example. 1 year, 5 years, 10 years) and then really think about what you want. Write down what it is that you want to have after the period of time. Be specific and write in the past or present tense.

  • By 21st of July 2020 I receive xy amount of money per month
  • At the end of 2020, I traveled to 5 countries
  • I am in a committed monogamous relationship
  • I work 30h a week in a job that I love

2. Taking too little time to create the vision board

Creating a vision board is a creative process and with any creative process there comes a time investment. The point where people misunderstand vision boards is that they think it is all about the final board. But this cannot be further from the truth. The process of creating your vision board is the most important part. Taking the time to figure out what you want, making decisions, crafting your life and searching for the most emotional image that represents your desire does most of the manifestation work. The actual board is just a reminder of that process.

I recommend you take at least 4-5 uninterrupted hours to create the vision board. When I guide clients through this process we do two coaching sessions in two weeks. The first session is the defining phase. In between the first and second sessions, the client has to finish the board and the second session is the timeline meditation where we directly program your desire into your subconscious mind for effortless manifestation. When you add it up, this takes my private clients more than 4-5h.

3. Settling for average images

Out of impatience, many people settle for average images that are just fine but not perfect. Finding the perfect image takes time and research which many people are too lazy to do. This laziness and impatience results in average or no manifestation results.

The images on your vision board should

  • represent your desire
  • trigger positive emotions

No matter how much research you have to do (online or in magazines) you should search for the image that represents your desire the best and that triggers the most positive emotions.

4. Not printing correctly

Pinning your images on a pinboard, printing a shitty version in a copy shop or using bad glue to stick your well-picked images on a sheet of paper is something that will be detrimental to your vision board. Not only will the longevity of the board suffer but also the manifestation power.

You should

  • use at least A3 or A2 format
  • print out high-quality images, use a good glue and stick it on a paper

or

  • search for high-quality images online put them all nicely together on the computer (with photoshop or other) and print it out in high quality in the format A3 or A2

5. Putting the vision board in the wrong place

How powerful will your vision board be when you hide it in your closet or in your basement? Not powerful at all. The vision board is a reminder for your subconscious mind to achieve exactly the things you put on there. That is why you need to put your board somewhere where your subconscious mind gets reminded of it daily. That means

  • you don’t need to look at it consciously

You just need to put it somewhere, where you always recognize. For example:

  • in your bedroom
  • in the kitchen
  • at the front door

That way you ensure the constant reminder for your subconscious mind and thus the success of your vision board.
